DRP combines cutting edge trends with traditional best treatment practices to delivery a quality of care that is second to none. The DRP is licensed by New York State OASAS. It is a licensed Outpatient Program.  The majority of men in the DRP live in our shelter, which gives the program a look and feel of an inpatient program. This has many benefits, which will be explained further. The typical length of stay in DRP is approximately 90-days. Actual program length is tailored on a case-by-case basis. Men are typically in treatment for half of the day, while performing assigned activities (jobs) the other half of the day. Men in DRP will receive: individual/group counseling; a daily community meeting group; a meditation group and daily 12-step meetings. In addition, participants have access to: acupuncture; pastoral counseling; the family program; smoking cessation; psychodrama; yoga; vocational/educational services; GED program and much more. Many of the men who complete the DRP are referred to halfway houses and sober houses to maximize the opportunity to sustain the recovery they have gained while at the Inn. As DRP is an outpatient level of care, it is far more economical than an inpatient stay. Actually, while participating in the DRP looks and feels like an inpatient program, it costs nearly 1/3 of the cost of a typical inpatient rehab. The DRP at St. Christopher's Inn is among the most successful programs in the state and country. In 2007, for example, the completion rate of treatment of the DRP was 73%. By contrast, according to New York State OASAS data, programs compared with St. Christopher's Inn had a completion rate of 25%. But the favorable statistics don’t end there. From 2003-2005, St. Christopher's Inn tracked clients who completed the DRP for one year post-discharge. The results were staggering. Of the 51% of people who could be tracked: 49% were either in treatment or had graduated from treatment; 89% were abstinent and 79% had obtained a job or were involved in a school or training program. The DRP at St. Christopher's Inn demonstrates success not just in the short-term, but in the long run as well.
